Its a Purse - No its a CAKE !!!!

Pretty much anything can be re-created in cake. And this is no exception - a client whom I adore and have done a few orders for in the past contacted me to make a Gucci purse cake for her cousins 19th birthday. What I found so sweet about this was that the cake was ordered for Friday which was the night before my clients wedding. She didn't want to away all the attention from her cousins birthday so she got her a custom cake - how sweet is that ! I hope you enjoyed it !!!!

About 16 months ago, I booked my first wedding cake for the 2008 season - it was for a lovely bride to be named Nicole !! Well 16 months later her wedding was here ! I delivered the cake to a gorgeous place called the 4 Season Golf Club in Claremont. The venue was gorgeous and the engagement picture I saw when I walked in was breathtaking. Congrats on you big day guys and I can't wait to see a picture of you guys with your cake !

Jen's Bridal Shower

About 2 months ago I got a request for a bridal shower cake for an upcoming bride that enjoyed the finer things in life. They wanted to incoporate Coach bags, shoes, pearls and in addition to that they wanted to incorporate the bride and grooms heritage of french canadian and irish, so fluer di lis and shamrocks were in order. This is what I came up with and I got a lovely e-mail back saying that they enjoyed the cake so much !!!

Laura's Wedding

As I told you last week, this past Saturday, I had the pleasure of doing a wedding cake for a lovely bride, Laura. I went to set up the cake and got a peek of the bride as they were having their cermony at the venue as well.....she made a beatuiful bride. The venue was the Newcastle Town Hall, and what a beautiful setting for a wedding and reception. The weather co-operated and it was a gorgeous day!!

Wedding Season is Here...........

and so it begins - my 2008 wedding season kicks off this weekend - and doesn't stop of about 3 months...whew - I forsee a lot of late nights ahead - This weekend I will be doing a cake for an absolute lovey bride by the name of Laura - she is getting married in Newcastle on the weekend - more pictures to come !!!!

To Maryland and Back

So 10 hours there and 10 hours back - I competed in my very first international wedding cake competition! Myself along with my friend Lisa of Flour Confections drove our entries to Westminister Maryland to compete in the Mid Atlantic Wedding Cake Show. We had a blast - we met up with a few of our cake friends, drank, ate and spent way to much - but it was worth it !

Along with that I got to meet and talk to one of my cake idols, Toba Garrett, what an awesome lady she is.

Here is my entry that after talking to one of the judges and other entrants, I figure I place in the top 20 out of about 80 entries....that news made my day !!!!! This was my trial run for the big competition coming up in September in Tulsa, Oklahoma !!!
